How did Elizabeth I deal with the spanish Armada?

Long before any rousing speech or lucky storm, Elizabeth prepared by building up the navy. She was quite cunning about this. She was responsible for building some ships but she made us all eat fish on a Friday. As a result a lot of ships were built by merchants and so cost her nothing. When ,and if the time came, she would have commandeered these to use in sea warfare.
