1989 nissan stanza i really need fast real answers please?

i have a 1989 nissan stanza i was going down the road and it jumped out of gear its auto matic and when i pulled over it wouldnt go into gear i dont think its the linkage or shifter but it could be the transmission but could it be electrical ?
