How am I going to fit in at University when I don't even have any friends?

I am going to be starting university in september but I am worried about making friends. I am often socially awkward and the fact I am 19 and very insecure scares me because I will be living in a new environment away from home with people who I might not enjoy the company of. I can even see myself becoming depressed and reclusive because everyone else will base friendships on who is the best looking and who has the most money and essentially who is the most fun to be with, so I stand no chance of being seen as a desirable person to hang around with. As always I will end up being seen as a quiet social outcast who never gets texts or phone-calls and never gets any female attention. How am I ever going to survive University life :s
