Arriving midnight in Taipei (TPE)?

hi, i'm arriving in Taipei (Taoyuan) on a midnight flight and will be staying at a friend's place in Beitou. I don't want to bother him with picking me up, though he's offered. What options do I have other than an expensive cab ride? Going towards taipei city is fine too.
